Jasper to Kamloops is beautiful riding, first on BC16 to Valemount, then down 5 to Kamloops. Enjoyed the views, but didn’t stop much once I passed Mt. Robson. That’s another area I’d like to come back to and it will have to be a different trip.

Canadian Rockies Day 8: Banff – Jasper
I rode northeast on the Trans-Canada, initially in the direction I came from, but I turned north onto the Icefields Parkway near Lake Louise. Weather was variable, at times chilly, but mostly pleasant enough despite the overcast and occasional haze.
Canadian Rockies Day 5-7: Banff
Day 7 was rain, rain and more rain.
Weekend on the Cispus River 3
Spirit Lake is, to this day, still choked with floating trees, the handful that floated to the surface after the massive landslide that triggered the 1980 eruption. Elsewhere, bare trees and fallen trunks are everywhere, always pointed away from the mountain.
Weekend on the Cispus River 1
It’s been a while since I last started a charcoal fire, and I was a bit out of practice.
μAdventure: Lake Chelan Overnight
Highway 20, aka the North Cascades Highway through the North Cascades National Park has been open since late April. I missed riding it last year and wanted to get it in.
Golden Pass 3: Jungfrau Region
From Lauterbrunnen a bus takes you to the first of four cable cars that eventually arrive at the Schilthorn, or as it is more colloquially known “Piz Gloria” the name given to it by the producers of the original “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.”
Golden Pass 1: Seattle-Zurich-Lucerne
My brother Jon and I agreed to meet in Europe for a few days ahead of traveling to Israel on a family visit. We met at the Zurich airport, he arriving by train from Vienna, and I by plane from Frankfurt after a long connection from a Seattle flight.
NZ Day 4: Tekapo to Omarama, Mt. Cook
I attempted to lead a group of jovial Brazilians on an aborted hike up the Hooker Valley. About half an hour in, we decided that conditions were going south.
